Ham Sammies

So, I might have mentioned that I've been sick the last 2 days, but last night, I was feeling much better.. and I was starving. I've had this recipe scribbled on the back of a piece of scrap piece of paper for a couple weeks now and I decided I had to try it.

Now this specific recipe came from one of the women I work with. I work with the best people! Everyone always gives me advice or recipes or assistance! This specific woman has given me MANY recipes and I always love them. Every single time. She's also about as big around as my pinky finger. So this isn't a "healthy" recipe, but I decided I'd earned it. Anyway (got way off subject there) I've heard that this is familiar to a lot of people and that it has about a hundred different names and variations. This is mine.

Ham Sammies
12 Hawiian dinner rolls- 1 pkg.
12 pieces good honey ham
12 small slices Swiss cheese (I used 3 big slices that I divided into 4 perfect roll-sized pieces)
Mayo or Miracle Whip

Poppy seed sauce for top:
1/2 Tbs poppy-seeds
1/4 c. melted butter
1 Tbs minced onion
1/2 tsp Worcestershire sauce
1/4 tsp garlic salt

Spread mayo onto both sides of the center of each roll. Place a slice of ham and a slice of Swiss inside of each roll. Close rolls and place them into a large baking dish or cookie sheet, very close together.

Whisk together all of the poppy seed sauce ingredients (in my family we don't measure, so i just threw rough estimates of the amounts into the bowl. i also was out of minced onions so i used onion powder). Pour evenly over all of the sandwiches.
before

Cover with foil and bake at 350 degrees for 12-15 minutes or until cheese is melted. Uncover and cook for 2 additional minutes or until tops are slightly brown and crispy. Serve warm.

They were delicious! Ridiculously easy and quick! I'm in a garlic phase right now too and these had just the perfect amount! Happy, happy girl!

Also.. want to see something funny? I was all pumped up about the Ham Sammies until I put them in the oven and looked over to my sink..
Yes, those are really the amount of dishes I had. In my defense.. I had a busy week, did some cooking for others, then I was sick for 2 days and well.. the dishes just didn't get done. I'm not always perfect. You'll be happy to know though that my sink is now void of all dirty dishes! Yay me!

OH.. and that photo gives you guys a sneak peek of my 1970's kitchen. Yes people, this is what I'm dealing with.
